Volkswagen Caddy SteelPod - Twin steel drawer system (no bed)
This is a twin drawer SteelPod, without the integrated sliding bed. It will fit in SWB, MWB and LWB models.
The key components and features are:
- A steel frame that bolts down to the 4x lashing points in your van floor, so it's held securely in place. Everything is then secured to this frame.
- 2x pairs of ball bearing full extension sliders, strength tested on our behalf at a proper UK facility. Each pair can withstand over 200kg in weight.
- Twin steel drawers, with aluminium checker-plate drawer bases, locks and handles
- Powder-coated for a durable and smooth finish in a very dark grey (nearly black).
- A 15mm hex-board (similar to buffalo board) birch plywood top
- If you change your van in the future, this SteelPod will fit most small and medium sized vans.
If you opt for the DIY version, the SteelPod will be delivered to you on a pallet. You will just need simple tools to secure M5 and M6 nuts & bolts, screws, and whatever tools your lashing points might require. The hex-board top will also arrive unfinished and therefore the sides might require a light sanding and then protected with a varnish or oil of your choice.
Alternatively, you may have your SteelPod fitted at one of our approved centres. It can be fitted while you wait, the timber will be finished, and you will also benefit from an extended 5-year warrranty.
We genuinely want your SteelPod to last for years and years. If you ever want a spare part or an extra piece, then please do get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
If something more serious has happened, then below is our small print for our warranty. However, if you think you are not covered, because say your warranty has expired, then please in touch anyway. It should always be repairable.
The sliders and structural integrity of the SteelPod is guaranteed for 12-months. In the case of DIY self installs, the warranty starts on the day of delivery, and in the case of SteelPods fitted by us then it's covered from the date of installation.
In the unlikely event that work needs to be carried out under warranty, then there are a few options:
- By default, we prefer to dispatch replacement parts to you.
- If we cannot provide you with parts, you may wish to get it repaired/welded near you. Please forward a quotation to us for approval.
Our warranty does not extend to damage caused by misuse or poor care, items that have been customised after they have left our workshop or cosmetic marks that have not impacted on the structural integrity.
It is not possible to powder-coat a second time and therefore any repairs undertaken may require spray painting.
In All Circumstances
All warranty claims must submitted by email to workshop@steelpods.co.uk. Please don't use facebook messenger, instagram, whatsapp, linkedin or similar channels.
All our warranties are subject to good and honest cooperation between both parties. Customers should be able to make small adjustments themselves with only basic tools and we are always on hand to give advice and guidance. We may request photographs or inspections and we hope this is acceptable.
Anything agreed between the parties verbally must always be followed up with written confirmation, otherwise it shall be treated as null and void.
Unless agreed otherwise, the purchaser is responsible for all transport.

We try keep Black/Grey SteelPods in stock and available for immediate fitting.
To order, you can either:
- Request an invoice or written quotation first, or;
- Order and pay in full now; via the website, or;
- Use the Partial Payment option on this website (the balance is payable 1 week before your fitting/ dispatch date)
Please expect a call from us shortly after your order. We will ask a few questions about your vehicle to check it's going to be compatible.
If your SteelPod and all components are in stock, then we generally arrange a dispatch or fitting date within a few days. On rare occasions we've installed the next day.
If the SteelPod is being delivered to you, it will arrive on a 1200x1200 pallet (pallets are non-returnable). We will assume that all deliveries are to a residential address and therefore the delivery van needs a taillift and pallet truck to deliver it to your door. Please therefore tell us if you have a forklift, or there are any issues with delivery.
Unfortunately, we cannot arrange for timed delivery slots.
If you are located in the EU then please make contact with us to discuss delivery and fitting options.
If you come to us, turn it into a holiday and we will provide free camping at the campsite beside our workshop.
Alternatively, we can travel to Europe but please discuss with us first before placing your order. It might be possible for us visit several customers on the same journey.
